The client was an 18 year old who was originally charged with Felony Murder in adult court. Kevin and Charlie were able to negotiate a plea to an amended charge of “attempted sale of marijuana” and this client received probation with no conviction or jail sentence.

Clay County, Missouri 2019 – Felony Murder Charge

The client was a 17 year old whom the State was trying to certify as an adult for adult criminal prosecution. Through their independent investigation and hard work, Kevin and Charlie were able to prevent the young man from being certified as an adult after a contested evidentiary hearing. This saved the young man from being prosecuted as an adult and from being sent to prison. This was the first and only time in this Judge’s 17 year career that they decided to not certify a young man or woman as an adult in a homicide case.

2019, Jackson County, Missouri: Vehicular Manslaughter

Client received suspended imposition of sentence after years of investigation and negotiation by the defense.

Kevin and Charlie Regan represented a young couple in a 2018 Family Court case. The couple had previously been homeless and had worked their way to renting a small apartment to have a home for their children. The State removed the children from the home in the summer of 2018 based on allegations of neglect, which were later determined to be false. Kevin and Charlie were hired to represent the parents to help them get their children back. Kevin and Charlie’s investigation revealed that the parents were loving, present and hard working parents who simply needed some resources to help them provide a better home for their children. After an evidentiary hearing, the children were returned home to their parents just days before Christmas. The family remains reunited and all of them are doing well. Helping reunite these children with their parents was the most rewarding result of the year.
